How Haleon transformed its data and analytics with harmonized global datasets
This case study explores how new global data sets enables the transformation of Haleon’s global and regional analytics capabilities, offering fuller granularity, greater accuracy and faster insights, future proofing its analytics for continued success.
Challenges
To meet the demands of today’s dynamic business environment, the global analytics team at Haleon recognized an opportunity to upgrade its legacy data and analytics system. The existing system relied on several manual touch points, slowing down reporting and reducing the accuracy of insights. Data from multiple data providers provided high-level performance overview but offered limited granularity, making it challenging for the team to perform a comprehensive analysis of performance drivers. Additionally, the complexity of the systems resulted in only a small group of specialists could navigate the system effectively, hindering the broader adoption of data and analytics across the organization.
As a result, the team struggled to leverage data efficiently for performance management and global reporting, creating a significant barrier to growth and decision-making. It became clear that a comprehensive modernization of the data and analytics systems was essential.
Goal
The goal was ambitious: to modernize a comprehensive data, reporting and analytics platform that could unlock the true value of Haleon’s data assets. This new platform was envisioned as a key competitive advantage, delivering faster and deeper insights into performance trends. By streamlining data management and reporting processes, the platform aimed to enhance decision-making capabilities and enable the global analytics team to act swiftly on emerging trends.
Solutions
To address these challenges, Haleon partnered with Redslim to design and implement a modern data management solution. The approach focused on cleansing, enriching, and consolidating data from over 18 data providers across 50+ countries. Extensive data integration efforts resulted in the creation of 10 super categories, aimed at establishing a unified and reliable data framework.
One of the first steps was cleansing and standardization. Due to multiple data sources, data came in diverse formats, structures and quality levels. Our team clean, map and transform data into a standard format and schema. By implementing rigorous data validation, the team eliminated inconsistencies and ensured quality, paving the way for the following process.
The next critical step is market and category enrichment. This involved overhauling the local market and category attributions, as well as establishing tailored category definitions and naming conventions that standardize data across different markets. The project ensured that local markets retained its specific analysis, whilst the global team could leverage data to compared and aggregated effectively, providing a clearer picture of performance within local countries and across regions.
The cleaned, enriched, and integrated data were subsequently consolidated to support a new reporting and analytics platform developed by Haleon, named Zeta. This platform offers users a single point of access for their needs at Haleon, making it easier for users at all levels to generate insights easily, quickly and independently.
All processes were securely managed within Haleon’s environment by utilizing cloud-based technologies, including Microsoft Azure and Databricks. Redslim’s approach maintained full alignment with the Haleon’s data security and compliance protocols.

Impacts
The transformation led to the creation of a fully harmonized global consumer health dataset, enhancing its data accessibility, accuracy, and speed. The impacts are significant:
- More granular data: new data sets allowed the analytic team to perform comprehensive reporting on manufactures, brands and segments in the category, discovering new analytic possibilities.
- Richer analysis and deeper insights: With the new data system and reporting platform in place, the analytics team could identify trends accurately and respond quickly to changing market conditions.
- Reporting efficiency: The automated data management processes significantly reduced the need for manual intervention, shortening processing times and enabling timely reporting.
- Real-time analysis: The platform’s ability to deliver prompt updates was particularly valuable in key markets such as U.K., U.S., where early insights could influence strategic decisions.
- Data democratization: the platform Zeta played a crucial role in promoting data and analytic adoption within the organization. This shift not only improved decision-making but also powered other enterprise use cases at Haleon.
- Future integration of other sensitive information: Our solution ensured that sensitive information could be securely included in analyses, providing a more comprehensive view of performance without compromising data privacy or compliance standards.
Conclusion
By aligning data globally and reducing manual input, our solution not only significantly reduced the risk of errors, but also facilitated in-depth analysis into sales and performance with granular data. The streamlined data management process enabled Haleon’s analytics team to focus on generating actionable insights rather than managing data related issues. The improvements future-proofed the analytics capabilities, supporting Haleon’s growth strategy in the years to come.
